What is dopamine?

Dopamine is a naturally occurring chemical in our brain and it’s a powerful neurotransmitter that plays a major role in the motivational component of reward-motivated behavior.

Not only does it acts as a desireable reward mechanism, but it’s also directly linked to our desire to explore and seek out new things. Understandably, dopamine is a double-edge sword as it simultaneously is a powerful driver for explorations as well as an addictive chemical linked to over-eating, drugs, gambling, and extreme risktaking.
